Head Instructor: Khru Marcus Chen
Marcus Chen is the founder and head instructor of Legacy Muay Thai Burbank. With over 18 years of competitive Muay Thai experience and a 47-12 professional fight record, Khru Marcus combines world-class technique with an approachable teaching style that works for all ages and abilities.
Khru Marcus trained under legendary Thai masters in Bangkok for five years, competing in regional tournaments and earning his credentials as a legitimate Muay Thai teacher. His specialty is footwork, clinch control, and ring strategy—skills he translates into every class he teaches. He holds certifications from the Thailand Muay Thai Association and has mentored three amateur fighters who've gone on to compete at the regional level.
In the gym, Khru Marcus emphasizes proper form over ego. He believes every student—whether they're taking a fitness class or training for their first amateur bout—deserves individualized attention and authentic instruction. His training philosophy balances respect for tradition with modern conditioning methods. Outside the ring, Khru Marcus is passionate about youth development and oversees our kids' programs.

Senior Instructor: Sifu Jenny Valdez
Jenny Valdez brings 14 years of Muay Thai training and 8 years of teaching experience to Legacy Muay Thai Burbank. Known for her dynamic energy and keen eye for form correction, Sifu Jenny specializes in making Muay Thai accessible and fun for adult beginners while also coaching serious students.
Jenny's background includes 22 amateur fights and extensive experience in the women's Muay Thai scene across California. She's competed at regional and national levels and brings that competitive mindset to every class—encouraging students to push themselves while maintaining safety and proper technique.
Sifu Jenny is particularly skilled at scaling classes for mixed-ability groups. She runs our popular fitness-focused Muay Thai classes and also coaches individual students preparing for competition. Her warm, encouraging approach has made her a favorite among newcomers and returning athletes alike.

Kids Program Director: Khru David Rodriguez

With 12 years of Muay Thai experience and a background in elementary education, Khru David knows how to teach discipline, respect, and technique in a way that resonates with young learners.
David has trained young athletes from age 5 through high school competition, understanding the developmental stages each age group goes through. He incorporates games, partner drills, and progressive skill-building into every kids' class, ensuring students build confidence while learning authentic Muay Thai.
His approach to youth instruction centers on building character—students learn that Muay Thai is about perseverance, respect for instructors and peers, and continuous self-improvement. Many of David's long-term students have gone on to compete in amateur youth tournaments.

With 16 years in fitness coaching and 8 years specializing in combat sports conditioning, Coach Patricia designs programs that prevent injury and maximize performance.
Coach Patricia works closely with competitive students, developing personalized training plans that complement their ring training. She's also passionate about helping office workers and fitness-focused students improve posture, core strength, and overall athletic capacity. Her classes blend traditional strength work with dynamic conditioning drills that mirror the demands of Muay Thai.

Tom trained under legendary trainers at Lumpini Stadium in Bangkok and carries that traditional approach into his teaching. His guest sessions focus on advanced combinations, ring psychology, and competition-level conditioning. He's known for his detailed breakdown of technique and his ability to push advanced students past their limits in a structured, safe environment.
